Central Texas is awash in wildflowers during spring. If you plan to visit the Texas Hill Country after the thaw, you would be remiss if you didn’t stop by Rolling in Thyme & Dough, a unique European-American bakery, bistro, catering and coffee bar in Dripping Springs.
Named as Dripping Springs 2008 Business of the Year, Rolling in Thyme & Dough has become a mainstay for locals and visitors alike. It is located on Highway 290 between Austin and Johnson City, Texas, and is a favorite destination for travelers.
If you want the gastronomic experience of a lifetime, Sin City is the place to be, especially if you want it all at affordable prices. The all-you-can-eat restaurant experience is absolutely a must when you are here. If you want to sit for a while and enjoy all the good food you can eat, the best restaurants will meet your expectation and, at the end of the experience, you will walk away a very ‘happy’ person!
Amongst the most recent trends you’ll have probably either experienced or heard of are the ‘all-you-can-eat’ passes. These passes are either valid 24 hours or valid one day; they cost more than the price of one visit of course but they cost less than the price of eating three full meals a day. If you decide that you want to experience this gluttonous event, it is advisable that you choose your places to eat carefully, in order to maximize your food enjoyment and overall experience.
The Bald Headed Bistro in Cleveland, Tennessee is a gem! We had the opportunity to dine there in July of 2009 and again in February, 2010 Located in a corner of The Village Green Shopping Center, the bistro could be overlooked. Once inside, the eclectic décor tells us this is no ordinary restaurant! This is extraordinary! The service is excellent and the food is marvelous! Our waiter, Eddie, was charming, knowledgeable, and efficient. From the beginning to end of the meal, we enjoyed our interaction with him. We chose a high end dinner, but there are meals for a more wallet friendly budget. We both ordered the BHB Wild Game Platter, for $36 each. We had elk tenderloins, Kentucky bison, and quail with remoulade with roasted potatoes and a juniper-cabernet sauce. We savored every bite! For desert, we shared a molten chocolate cake with ice cream, at Eddie’s suggestion. Delectable! We also had a bottle of fine Merlot that complemented the meal. The presentation was flawless, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Josh, the manager, is friendly and experienced. If you are looking for something more wallet friendly, there is a 3 course meal for only $25. A full selection of appetizers, salads, dinners, lunches, sides, bar menu, wine, and desserts is available. This is an experience not to be missed! Cleveland is near Chattanooga, and The Village Green Shopping Center is on Keith Street.
On our next visit, in February of 2010, we tried the monthly special: a four course meal for $30. We had a choice in the appetizer, salad, and entree. Dessert was an oatmeal cookie tart with vanilla ice cream drizzled with carmel sauce. It was excellent, and our server Brad was, too!
Let me tell you that, if you are in Sin City, buying a local newspaper or going through local magazines will reward you with offers from a few buffets. If you are not sure, you can often read or hear about those offers even before you go through the papers. Once we found coupons for one dollar buffets offers for the Palace Station. Even if it’s not the best buffet in town, what can you actually eat or drink for one dollar these days?
The Palace Station buffet, the Palms buffet, the Main Street Station buffet and, occasionally, the Stratosphere, the LV Hilton, the Gold Coast and the Orleans buffets will run special offers (always mid-week, never for weekends) where you can eat for around five dollars per person; a great bargain these days. There are other off-Strip establishments which give you these great offers and you really need to keep an eye out when you are in this city. These offers are advertised on their own websites, published on local newspapers or magazines (some of them are free and you can find them everywhere in this city) or even at large billboards as you drive around this town. Always look where you are going because there are very often special off-Strip offers. During the week you will never have to eat at any off-Strip buffet for less more than 10 dollars, often less if you have a player’s card.
